Re: Amount of sand to purchase

My hermit crabs seem to like EE more, and I only used one fifty pound bag of sand, and used EE for the rest to make about 5-6.5 inches. So I would say that I used 4/7 of playsand, and 3/7 or 1/2 of EE. I also think the EE helps with humidity. Some people do the 5.1, some people do around half and ha...

Re: Sick crab

Sorry I haven’t had this situation before, but maybe you could try propping him up with a bottle cap? I don’t know why I’m the only one replying

Re: Sick crab

I got dried shrimp. You can look in the reptile food section or the fish food section for dried meats. Just make sure it doesn’t have any harmful ingredients. The dried shrimp I got I think is from omega 1. I don’t know how to help with the hand feeding but you could put the q tips right next to its...

Re: Crab Shell Found Empty

Sometimes crabs hide really deep in shells. You might want to check them again. I would recommend to get a water conditioner for tap or spring water called prime or aqueon tap water solution, and instant ocean salt for saltwater. I’ve seen premixed waters and I don’t think they are recommended.- you...

Re: Just a few questions regarding molting

I’m not sure about you heating question but he could be molting. You should probably keep feeding and changes the water too. I would probably wait to get the new crab (for about a week or 2) just in case your first crab takes a few months to molt, and you should probably keep it in your other tank u...

Re: What is my crab doing?

My crab Peach does that where you can only see part of their legs and they stay like that for a while. I think it is sleeping because she mostly does it in the day and sometimes at night.

A digital thermometer/hygrometer is more accurate.
Either one can be accurate if you calibrate it
I got two digital acurite weather station that day the temperature and humidity. One of them was 7% too dry when I calibrated it. I felt like I could have saved $4

I think the zoomed fruit salad should be fine as long as it is only freeze dried fruit. I almost bought it but I was on a budget.

Re: Sick crab

Thank you, I flipped him over and moved him closer to the food & water dishes. I also put q-tips with honey&powdered calcium mixture, water, & saltwater right next to him so they’ll all be right there if he lifts his shell. What foods should I be giving him? Are Honey and calcium good or is there s...

Re: Sick crab

Sure. I haven’t experienced this before, but it seems like you are doing everything pretty good. You might want to put the crab right side up though in case it can’t do it itself. It could be too weak to get to the food and waters so you might want to move them closer too your crab and maybe have so...
