Re: Help with reducing clutter?

Thanks so much for the pictures!!! If this was possible, I'd pay you or anyone with all these great ideas and DIY tricks to just do my upgrade in a few months! Definitely have a lot more ideas though. Really just want to upgrade at this point especially with all crabs up simultaneously. Not sure I'l...

Re: Some kind of Aggression!? (pic)

This is what I'm using... may have been this thread, but posted my crabs completely dissapear from 5AM-6PM. They slowly start moving around 6PM then just party all night. Last night I cleaned and added shells and sprayed the top layer of sand. They were super active all night. And just watching the ...

Re: Finding the poop in the substrate

That's smart! I'm cleaning the tank out this weekend, so that's good. Any thoughts/suggestions on how I clean? Clean tank, wipe out with warm sink water, wipe that out with paper towels. Then for the decor I'm going to - Boil shells/wood and wash out with a paper towel Soak other things in tap wate...

Re: Some kind of Aggression!? (pic)

Laughed out loud at how you broke it up with the mic and they all separated!🤣🤣🤣 Maybe molter forgot he had roomies and was establishing hierarchy again Haha. Imagine being at work in the break room and shouting random noises into your cell phone with coworkers wondering if there's something not qui...

Re: Help with reducing clutter?

Is that black egg crate? I only ever saw white for sale around here. Anyway, here are my general quick thoughts that you can probably get away with pretty easily. For a super simple second level above your coconut hide you could get two Flukers Tension Rods and and run them front to back. Then cut ...

Re: Help with reducing clutter?

OK so, as I thought, not much change overall, but all are currently up. I cleaned and dug up shells, added another almond leaf (they destroyed/ate the two I had a few months ago), sprayed the top layer and around the sides, but here's some pics from today... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200228...

Re: Help with reducing clutter?

I love coming up with ways to add more space. 20 long would be challenging since you don't have much height to begin with. Can you post an updated picture? I'd love to take a crack at some ideas. Absolutely. Will take a picture tomorrow and update this post from the original pics posted as the crab...

Re: Some kind of Aggression!? (pic)

New to crabbies also, and grateful for your post as it helps me know what to look for when determining aggression. I had a similar concern as my littlest crab chirped the other night and I had a concern she may be threatened by a jacking. You're totally not alone in the excitement, either! My husba...

Re: Recommendations from other groups?

What a great topic! I have HCA to thank for still having our four original crabs, this will always be my home! I like how this site really doesn’t criticize anyone, even if you’re doing something that not everyone agrees with, we’re more open here. They will help you, not judge you. I agree with ea...

Re: Recommendations from other groups?

Also in LHCOS, you aren’t allowed to delete your own comments if you say something you shouldn’t or make a mistake. They claim people can benefit from the discussion. Yeah, that would have gotten me a warning a few months ago or so! Thankfully I was able to vent and then just delete that post as it...

Re: Help with reducing clutter?

Wow... I have really changed things up (at least IMO lol) since posting those pics. Had changed the water bowls again with expensive ones from Petco then thought they were leaking so did a DIY Tupperware contraption for the water. I did this with a lizard hammock sitting around and some craft mesh w...

Re: Finding the poop in the substrate

I've done a full substrate change twice since setting up the 20G long. Started with the circular mesh cage of death to a cheapo 2G or so temporarily after reading care sheets while on vacation then to a 10G and finally a 20G long. I was forced (bacterial bloom) shortly after to change all of the sub...

Re: Killing anaerobic bacteria

Thank you! I will make sure to try the trick (I'm going to guess I'm fine). My crabitat doesn't really smell except for fish (I have a fish treat in there, plush some shrimp. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was coming from an exo because my tiniest hasn't been seen for about a month now. I think...

Re: Purchased substrate... that's already damp/wet.

I’ve been searching for some bacterial bloom stories. I need to know what to look for. And when I first set up my tank I had to wing it together because I had a crab from vacation in a KK. Luckily I had an empty 55. But only had space heater to heat entire area Cost me $100 extra for that month. I ...

Re: Purchased substrate... that's already damp/wet.

I can’t provide much experience but I’ve heard of some people dumping it in the tank straight from the bag. I do know one thing for sure. In my situation I would want my sub to start out as dry as possible without loosing sandcastle consistency. Because my humidity is high. It was 99% this morning....
