Water activity

This was back in January and I haven’t seen him swim since. This was when i first added filters and took out my bubblers. Crabby wasn’t scared of the filters a bit. My ramps are different now but this was just a quick set up. My filters are more secure too. This is Crabby in the freshwater. https://...

Re: How to boil moldy wood...

I just quickly bought some Morton kosher salt but it says it has yellow prussiate of soda as an anti caking agent. I thought kosher wouldn’t have anything added. Is it ok to use for boiling wood? I also have some sea salt but I thought it might have other stuff in it hence the reason I bought kosher.

Although in the care sheet section I’ll reiterate here about heating. A lot of people here use UTH (under ...

Re: Few questions about food, feeding and storage

Hello! Happy 4th of July! I personally make mixes for my crabs. I myself am too busy and have too many animals, people and plants to take care of to prepare fresh foods for ALL of my hermies on a daily basis. By making mixes I am able to make sure that I cover all of the food groups covered in the ...

Few questions about food, feeding and storage

I could use some advice on feeding. It takes me about 45 minutes to prepare food every time I change food, depending on how many things I put in. Sometimes it takes longer. I guess I’m slow anyway lol. I have meats, fruits and vegetables in the freezer. I do my best to rotate but also provide a vari...

Re: Feeling more confident today

So sweet. Wish my kids would’ve stayed involved. I feel like I took over. Lol. But in their defense I made it difficult to get into the tank to do any maintenance as well as change food and water.

29 days is NOT a long time. Do not dig them up, or move substrate around, or check on them.

I agree, be patient. I always get worried too but they always come back up. Unless it’s the first molt then I worry more but I still let them do their own thing because that’s best.

Re: Crabby has resurfaced but Mr Crabs is still sluggish after assumed first molt with us.

It appears Mr Crabs is giving up. 😞 He starting to go naked. Man it’s hard for me to handle crab deaths. Fish never bothered me too much I guess because it was expected. Since I know crabs live are suppose to live longer it’s hard to keep my head up. I’ve had him 8 months. He went through a lethargi...

Re: Crab died

Only thing I can tell you from my learning here is there are stories of lonely crabs living a long time but I’d like to think friends are nice. Also it’s recommended to adopt/rescue instead of buy from pet stores since they capture them from the wild. And if introducing a new crab to another it’s re...

Re: Dim Lighting

I’ve seen some using moonglo bulbs outside the tank but facing in. Those are going to produce some heat. That’s all I know of. Perhaps others here know of more options.

Edit: I bet there’s an led option with very low heat

Re: Water Quality tester.

I have the api freshwater master kit and found a color card for saltwater online. Not sure that’s the be route but that’s what Courtney said. There may be a way to obtain the saltwater card from api which would be better than printing one. Also my eyesight isn’t the best and there’s a certain way to...
