Wild Isopods?

Hello! I have a 45 gal aquarium with my five PP's. I was looking to get some microfauna, such as Isopods. When I am gardening outside, I often see whole colonies of wild isopods. I was wondering if it would be safe to gather some and add them to my crabitat? I could isolate them, breed them out and ...

Re: Mites

Do you have any gnats in the tank? Things without legs could be maggots or a type of worm. My first thought would be fungus gnat larvae since they are in multiple tanks, but it could be nematodes if you are somehow cross contaminating. They aren't harmful, just annoying. If they do have legs, then ...

Re: Crabs dying during molting!

I see no red flags here. If none of them have molted successfully under your care it may be a case (or several) of Post-Purchase Syndrome. The risk of PPS does not drop until after they molt. The stresses they endure before coming to our homes are great and some crabs just can’t handle them. Contin...

Re: Mites

A quick breakdown of the spray: Sodium lauryl sulfate: a surfactant that removes the protective oils on the mites’ exoskeleton, which repel water for better oxygen exchange Cottonseed oil: coats the mite to impair oxygen and water exchange Clove oil: coats the mites to impair oxygen and water excha...

Re: Crabs dying during molting!

If your substrate is nine inches deep than you can simply let the crabs dig. Isolation is redundant at this point. What are you offering for protein and calcium? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk One of my tiniest crabs just went under yesterday (To molt). That is why I made this post. I'll leave ...

Re: Mites

I’m not familiar with the spray so I don’t know how it works. Have you considered getting predatory mites? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Here is a link to the spray I used: https://www.amazon.com/JurassiMite-250-8-5-fl-oz/dp/B000HHSAVW Predatory mites? like what? I have considered getting spri...

Crabs dying during molting!

Hi! My smallest PP, Strawberry, just went under to molt. I am making this post because I have had three crabs die during molting, so I am very worried. I give them the best care possible- protein-rich foods, lots of substrate and humidity, saltwater- basically everything they need to thrive. With my...

Mites

Hello, I have had a problem with tiny white bugs for quite some time. They look like tiny little slugs and eat the hermit crabs food, even if its only been in the tank for a few hours. I had someone tell me they were soil mites, but they don't really look like the image that popped up on google. The...

Hermit crab bioactive

I started out by buying a huge 45-gallon tank. I added a divider to make saltwater and freshwater pools, to which I allowed to cycle for one week. I got an equal mix of play sand to eco earth. and then I got a bunch of plants. I heard about people putting sprouts, like chia in their aquarium, but my...
