A Couple Of Crabby Questions
Hello crabby people, I have a couple of questions. Cora is doing great and has even become more active. She is hiding less. But I still don’t know everything there is to know. I have a couple of concerns: 1. I think she might be drinking her salt water rather than bathing in it. I read the caresheet...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Y’all, I’ll be honest, and I know all of us has done this, too. You walk up to the tank, and either just that does it, or you reach for something to clean or move and someone inevitably pulls in too fast, forgetting to hold on, and goes rolling backwards off a log, a shelf, another crab, you know- ...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Oh yes- we have all done things like this and gone OMG!!! I have had a crab punch me in a tender spot between my fingers while I was not looking at her, and my auto reaction was to kinda jump and shake- she came off, thankfully the carpeted floor was only like a foot down - maybe. That was a year a...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Is that true that most crab owners don’t handle their crabs because I’ve been feeling bad because I havnt held mine yet? I was just curious if that’s something I should or shouldn’t be doing? I guess I’m afraid of scaring them or dropping them idk lol I want to hold them but they seem happy without...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
****Update: After all that happened, she went right under the hide log but stayed all “puffed up” on the defense, sticking out of her shell. I have lifted up the log to check on her a couple of times (not the greatest thing to do I know). Now she has completely burrowed herself under the substrate.....

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Doesn't sound that unusual an occurrence, really. Aorse has happened, you didn't accidentally rinse her in hot water, or toss her in a boiling pot of water trying to clean the shell. She might be a little shaken up, but these guys can fall out of trees in the wild and be okay. I wouldn't worry. Yay...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Calm down, all crabbers make mistakes and as long as we take care of them its ok. Keep an eye out to see it she comes out of her shell and see how she looks. If she looks fine she should be fine after a couple days. Most of us don’t handle our crabs and it may be very nerve racking for her now but ...

I Think I Accidentally Hurt My Crab!
Help! I’m so upset. I was changing the water dishes in Cora’s tank. She has a ton of the same type of white shell in her tank cuz I didn’t know what size would suit her and obv. she needs a few to choose from. What happened is almost too awful to describe...and I am embarrassed to admit that it happ...

Re: Having A Lot Of Trouble With Shells
Molting and shell changes aren't always related. A crab might change shells after a molt, but not always. A crab might change shells randomly. If she is in a shell with a one inch opening, what size shell openings did you order from Naples? What size did they send? I ordered: ⅜" - ½" opening And Tu...

Having A Lot Of Trouble With Shells
I think my crab has been trying to molt ever since I got her. I have bought her a lot of shells and I have given her a lot of choices, but I just can’t seem to find the right ones! I purchased a whole assortment from amazon. Most of those seemed like they were either too big or too small. Then I pur...

I use a mesh lid and I cover part of the tank with a wet towel to keep the humidity in.

That does sound like a better solution!GotButterflies wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 10:13 amThis doesn't pertain to your question; but think it has been recommended to wash reusable shopping bags between uses during this time. You would remove the plastic bottom. Then your aunt could save her Lysol

Re: Covid-19 Lysol & Fresh Foods
I think you're probably erring on the side of extreme caution, but it's also what I would have done. The active ingredients in classic Lysol are known to be extremely toxic to aquatic life. Would second hand exposure through a veggie really be enough to cause harm? Probably not. So long as you can ...

Covid-19 Lysol & Fresh Foods
I just wanted to post here because I care so much about my pets & my crabby has been doing so well. I’ve been feeding my crab Cora fresh foods lately, as one should. Mostly, it’s just been apples that came out of a bag. However, yesterday I asked my aunt to grab me a bell pepper for the crab & the b...
