Massive Amount of Pics of My Hermit Clan!

Hey, everyone! :D Last night I was up for a while and there was a lot of crab activity. I changed out the water in the saltwater pool, so they had some fresh water to go swimming about in! Needless to say, they definitely enjoyed it. :) They also really loved their salad they had for dinner! ...

Seeing how much you can do with a 55 gallon has definitely inspired me to fix my own 55G up a little! :) I might add some of those mushroom ledges and perhaps a few cholla bridges.

Wow, it really does look amazing! :D Great job. The hermies look so happy and at home in the video.

You might have already mentioned this, but what size is your crabitat? :)

Re: Sex change?

:D I had the same thing happen to me once, but there was a time where I was sure that a crab was male, and then later, I found out that she was female. :P

I don't know if a complete sex change is possible, but maybe their looks can be deceiving sometimes.

I would say that all mushrooms safe for human consumption are considered safe for hermie consumption.

Re: E's break the spiral out of their shell

I had one E that came in a native shell and when she moved out, the spiral was eaten out as well! :) I've also had quite a few crabbies modify their own shells by taking off pieces to make room for their eyestalks or legs. Gotta love custom-fitted shells! :hlol:

The things I miss while I'm gone. :x :anon: This is really awesome! :D That's great that your crabs "did it". :P I always think it's a sign that you are providing a habitat that is very close to the one in which they would live. They feel at home, natural, healthy, and are able to do their business....

Is the Hermit Crab Addiction Store going out of business or something? Most of their stock is unavailable. I hope this just because they are seasonal items that aren't available year-round. That is a good question. I've noticed that a lot of their stuff is seasonal. If you're interested in o...

It depends on the size of the crab, their environment, and their diet. Healthy crabs that are very small will molt very frequently, while the larger crabs may molt only once a year of even less. :) A medium crab should molt at least once a year, if not a little more. I would try feeding some ...

No, not all this information is from the reference book. The basis of the crustacean diet comes from the reference book, while the rest is done from a little research and knowledge. :)
