Hi, how do I identify which 'type' of hermit crabs I have?

If you're in the US, it's 99% sure that you have either a Purple Pincher (PP) or an Ecuadorian (E). Purple pinchers usually have just that, blue or purple on their big pinchers. E's have an elongated eye shape, and are a little stockier. There are other key differences, but they're much more subtle and can sometimes apply to both species.

Hi thanks for your replies. I have 2 hermies and both are underground at the moment and have been since they arrived 3weeks ago . I'm in UK but when they decide to emerge I'll take pics and post. Thanks guys

Duh, your username. Sorry!
I believe the UK has a better range of species. Photos will really help when they come back up as they could be Ruggies which are very similar to Es!

I've actually just taken a video of one of them changing shells! But I can't work out how to post it? #Help :roll:

Videos have to be uploaded to Youtube or similar, and then a link can be shared. I don't know any forums who have the ability to host videos, unfortunately.
Images have to be uploaded to imgur or similar and also use a link that is shared. If you use the Tapatalk app though, it can be done directly through there!
