Did my crab molt?

Post by ThatMamaDawn » Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:28 pm

So, this is Crabby. He’s my biggest crab. I haven’t seen him in about 2 weeks or so since I set up my new crabitat. He instantly dig down and I had t seen him since. My daughter saw him crawling on the side of my moss pit and I got excited and instantly picked him up to look at him and say hi. And I noticed the hairy legs which from what I have read in here is a sign of a fresh molt.

Here’s a pic my husband took. Is there a way to tell if they actually molted? Image

The hairy legs and black toenails are signs of a molt.

Thank you! He’s still cruising around this morning and ate the crap out of the egg shell I have in there. This makes me happy!

Now to get him to get out of that stupid painted shell! he tried on another shell but went back to this one.

I feel proud that he molted. It feels like a success.

You're welcome! It is a great feeling when they have a successful molt. How many shells do you have available? If you can, as soon as he's in another shell, remove the painted one.
