Tiny red bugs in their shell with them?

Post by CrabbyChelle628 » Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:40 am

Ok one of my crabs is up and I decided to pick her up to check on her and in her shell opening there were tiny red bugs that were really fast moving. Should I be worried?

Anything on the crab itself? Tucked into joints, or on/around the eyes and mouth? These could potentially be crab mites, but they are only a concern if they are eating off of the crab.

They were fast moving red mites that were around the opening of her shell

Those don’t sound like anything harmful. Crab mites are much more sedentary on their hosts.
