Does botlede drinking water requires conditioner?

Post by boatswain » Wed Nov 28, 2018 4:35 pm

Hello everybody.
In different sources, I see very different information. Soo... question:
Should I use water conditioner/dechlorinator if I use bottled drinking water for fresh and salt water for my crabs?
Thank you guys for your help!

Most likely, because different bottled water brands tend to add trace amounts of minerals to their water. I'm hoping someone more experienced in this will step in and help!
Two amazing PPs: Jarvis, who has been with me since 7/14/18, and NewCrab (still unnamed) since 1/11/21!
And a tortoiseshell kitty: Delia

I'm still pretty new to this and I'm trying to learn all I can!

It’s not always easy to tell what’s in bottled water. It’ll vary by brand, so it’s best to be safe and condition it if you choose that over tap water.

I'm not 100% positive on this but it may vary depending on the brand of water as well. Also depending on the process they use to purify the water it may not have all the minerals crabs require that normal tap water will still contain. I think some bottled water may just be tap water anyway.

Hopefully someone else can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

To piggy back on this I have Culligan tap water and when I looked it up it said they dont put chlorine into their water they use ozone instead. Can I trust that? Would it be safe for them?

But you also have to remove chloramines and heavy metals. And neutralize ammonia.

Hmm... O my god... So complicated thing. Now I am unsure , may be my crabs sad because of water. But in my first sources they told: "If you use drinking bottled water - you don't need a conditioner..."

Just interesting is not to late? :(

Ughhh... really sad. Maybe this is my problem. my crabs dig down and I see them very-very seldom.
But, I repeat my question... Does anybody use reverse osmosis water?

There was another post about this recently with an answer. Do a search for reverse osmosis and I'm sure you'll find it.
