Instant ocean reef crystals

Post by Hermielover121 » Sat May 16, 2020 11:00 pm

I just found this really expensive instant ocean since it was the only one that was available for me. It says reef crystals then bellow reef salt is that still ok. It was so much and the only one I could find I would hate to have to not use it.

We use the reef crystals with our crabs. It has higher levels of trace minerals/elements for coal aquariums. We switched when we were trying to raise zoea last year. We though perhaps the extra addatives may be of some use. There is no real research done to compare the two types.

I also picked up a box of this last time, but it was on sale so cheaper than the regular.

Thanks so glad I can use it. It’s 1/2 per gallon right?

Yes, 1/2 cup per gallon. It's easiest to add the salt before the water. I like to add a little warm water shake it up to dissolve the salt. Then fill it the rest of the jug up with regular tap water. Once filled add your water treatment. I like to let it sit several hours to get to room temperature.
