Does anyone have any suggestions for what’s best to use to make salt water for my crabs? Thank you!

Most of us use Instant Ocean, but really any aquarium salt works

Not freshwater aquarium salt!!

It has to be a marine salt mix for saltwater fish.

'Freshwater' salt is just a few elements to replace what can be pulled out by water purifying systems on tap water. Saltwater salt replicates ocean water and the 70 or so elements it contains.

Wait so I shouldn’t use instant ocean?

You can use Instant Ocean. It’s a marine salt.

You just can’t use anything designed for freshwater.

Useful (marine):Image

Not useful (freshwater):Image

Awesome thank you so much! I just got my two crabs today. Love these guys. Anyone know things I shouldn’t feed my hermit crabs that you would feed medium to large ones? Or is just portions are smaller?

You probably want smaller portions, since it’s harder for small hermit crabs to grab onto larger pieces of food. Nothing about what food is safe or not changes, at least I don’t think.

I was also wanting to switch to Instant Ocean... is it better to get the large box pictured above? I also saw this version and wondered about it.

This is just a water conditioner like Prime. It isn't the actual salt.

Ah, okay, thank you! So I'd need both products.
