A medium crab of the same size would be a better choice. Also be aware that when you bring a new crab home from the pet store, it will dig down and you will not see it for weeks or even months. It will need time to adjust to the new tank. The rule we have for digging up crabs when they’re molting also applies when they de-stress. Do not dig.

Also dip him/her in water to remove the smell of a threat to them if your putting him in with the other.
