Clawdia Has Talons After Molting

Post by jonathon1989 » Sat Mar 28, 2020 11:07 am

My Hermit Crab Clawdia recently came up from molting and while holding her I noticed she had sharp talons at the tip of her legs, much like a chicken or a rooster. Ive never seen this before. My other hermit crab Coral doesnt have these. Id like to add that these talons are razor sharp. It was kind of painful letting Clawdia walk on me and even while holding her. I would appreciate any opnions and information.

It’s normal, you just may not have noticed before. The claws get worn down over time through use and are restored after molting.
