I use ReptiSun UVB bulbs for about 12 hours a day. The straws bask in the light as close to the top as they can regularly. I am convinced light is one part of the color-retention equation, beta-carotene another, but there must be more. :wink:

I would imagine uvb lighting wouln't hurt them. They are out in the sun in the wild, so I would think that just like lizards, they would benefit from uvb rays (sun rays). You can get special uvb bulbs on the market, just make sure they are a "flourescent" (tube-like) bulb. The "incandescent" bulbs (look like normal household lightbulbs) don't emit uvb.
