Maybe, but I honestly doubt that they would enjoy eating garlic, not because it's bad for them but because raw garlic by itself tastes absolutely disgusting. I may try cooking it for them, though.
Considering they love poop, the stinkier the better, I don't think they'll be bothered by the taste of raw garlic.

Bleh.

That is all I have to say.
Well, after about twenty-four hours the tank now smells like garlic. The crabs don’t seem to mind, though. I am monitoring them for any signs of stress or irritation but for now they’re going about their lives as normal.

I don't like garlic, so don't think I would like my entire tank to smell like it, LOL. I will leave that experiment to you!

The chives in my garden are coming up - do you think I should try to give them some of those? Kind of like onions but not really?

I was going to try out chives this summer, too, since I have both the regular and garlic varieties. At least those don’t have as strong a scent!

As much as I love garlic, I don't think I could handle my reptile room smelling like it :) It would be interesting to know if the crabs enjoyed it. Minced garlic is a little stronger smelling than powdered or fresh.

On the bright side, the smell did dissipate less than a day after I removed the garlic. But of course my tank also has a little more airflow than some others.

So I assume your experiment scared away all of the vampires in the area in the meantime? Lol ImageImage

I put chives in my tank last night - they were not touched.
But the apple flower petals, oregano leaves, lilac flowers, and dandelion leaves were all gone!

That’s a shame. Oh, well, can’t say it wasn’t unexpected.

Trials with both raw and cooked garlic were unsuccessful. Too be fair it’s not usually offered by itself in aquaculture, anyways.

Hey guess what?! I left the chives in there, and when I went to add some more flowers and stuff tonight, someone had eaten some of the chives! Well, there was a lot of little ripped up bits, but I am certain that some was eaten too!

I think onion chives? The ones that get a purple flower at the top later in the season.
