Using unusable shells as puzzle feeders?
After getting one of those bags of random sea shells and picking out the usable ones, I'm yet to figure out what to do with the rest them. I have a few where the shell slit is too thin to be worn, but I could stick a few pieces of food in there. I was wondering if they would actually use it or if anyone has experience with it. All my crabbies are under the soil so while I wait for them I'd love to figure out some things that would keep them occupied.

You could try it out, adding smelly foods (like shrimp, mango and the like) would certainly increase interest or success! If you do it, we will love to hear how it went - it may take multiple goes before its successful.

As far as unusable shells with holes; you can crush them to use them as calcium.

Make a tiny pile on the substrate, or place them in a separate calcium dish

I might do it too! Could you just add it to their food, or should it be separate?

I would say you can do both, but I am going to mix mine with eggshell.Moonlightdreams wrote:I might do it too! Could you just add it to their food, or should it be separate?
