Loose leaf tea leaves

Post by AndyCrabby » Fri Apr 06, 2018 12:14 pm

Would these be safe to feed my crabs. They're caffeine free and organic. I use them for my tea and they are just steeped in boiled water. I feel like it would give the leaves a second purpose if I could feed it to my crabs after I was done using them in my tea. My concern is the water I steep them in since I'm not using their dechlorinated water.Thank you.Image

I would play it safe and say no, but that is me.

The other day @Wodesorel said that some people give their crabs tea. So, some people might say yes. To each's own!

(I would personally put them in my compost!) :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

The heating would get rid of chlorine and the slightly acidic nature of the tea will break down chloramine so that would not be a worry so long as the flowers inside are crab safe. It probably isn't much different than the wo-pourri I used to sell. I see calendula flowers which the crabs do enjoy!

I feed my crabs chamomile flowers all the time, and they really enjoy that.

You could also try soaking them in dechlorinated water and giving them a good rinse. That should probably remove anything nasty, as well.
