Would feeder minnows at a pet store be a good idea?

No. I wouldn't feed my crabs anything from a pet store aquarium.

Also. Hermit crabs are scavengers. They eat food that is already dead or decaying. One of their roles in their ecosystems is to help clean up those things that are rotting and breaking down.

There is no reason to buy live fish for them. None. Go to the grocery store fish counter and ask for scraps. Go buy a filet of salmon for yourself and slice a piece off.

People have very gently tried to state this in a patient manner in this thread that killing live fish for no good reason is inhumane.

Your hermit crabs do not require live or freshly killed meals to thrive.
