What do I do with my extra egg shells?

I’ve been hearing around that people add crushed up egg shells to the top of their substrate!
I’ve also heard that the egg shells will go bad and will stink up the tank.
What do you guys do with extras? Just save them?

I put some in a food dish that I keep my other exo/calcium mixes in, or I’ve put a bigger piece of eggshell on the substrate next to their food dishes. I keep some extra in the refrigerator incase I need to add more. I change it out once or twice a week, it depends on what the calcium dish looks like. I’m not sure what the recommendation on changing the eggshells is, I crack a new egg once a week. I wouldn’t mix it in with your substrate but to set a piece of eggshell on top of your substrate would be ok.

I freeze mine! I add them to the calcium dish mixed into their honey coral powder, trying to make it last longer. Haha. But the rest I freeze in a gallon Ziploc bag so they don't go bad or get stinky before I can use them

If you can get the shells really clean and dry they can store at room temperature and be fine. Otherwise I'd recommend freezing as well.
