Post by Rocky » Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:34 pm

Tonight I have some nice mushy mango and plum, cooked beef and turkey, brown rice and crushed pecans with some supplement powders. (Vita foods post molt, caribbean cabana, bladderwrack flakes and hibiscus powder, all from kilimanjaros kibbles, love it!)

Tonight the crabbies are getting:
Diced up mango
Broccoli
Shredded carrot
Semi dehydrated pineapple (I thought it was fully dried but then it started going brown, they really like it semi dry for some reason :? )
Mushy mushy rasberries :D
Equally mushy blueberries
Turkey, some of it soaked in rasberry juice (oops)
Dried plankton
And a big slab of coconut for each tank! The straw/blue tank gets a spoonful of kilimanjaros kibbles:vitafoods, post molt thought because Betelgeuse just molted :)
And as always, their refilled dry food/treat bowl
Yummy! :D I'm jealous, I had KD :P

We just started trying diff foods other than the dried hermit crab food. No one touched the frozen mango, fresh banana, or freeze dried shrimp. But I just put in some fresh blueberries and uncooked oatmeal and I have a crab that has been sitting there for about 15 minutes. Two others are circling. Lol

How can I prepare salmon for my hermit crabs. I don't eat fish and not sure if I cook it or not, if so how. Thanks.

They can eat it raw or cooked. I prefer to cook mine and usually use the microwave for what I cook for the crabs. If I get an entire extra piece for the crabs to cook and freeze I'll put it in a separate baking dish with a little olive oil in the dish first and bake it in the oven at the same time as the food for the family, just without seasoning.

Yum! Dinner is really elaborate tonight :)
Image

I made a crabby salad, with romaine lettuce, broccoli, peas, kiwi and rasberries
There is also: Dehydrated apple, dehydrated coconut, dehydrated turkey and dried crickets, dried freshwater krill, rehydrated hibiscus petals, protien/calcium kibble I made out of cuttlebone, eggshell, oyster shell, dried cricket, dried seafood, dried coconut and pineapple
ALSO bladderwrack flakes, Kilimanjaros Caribbean Cabana kibble, and cuttlebone powder!
Phew. I can't say all that in one sentance :D
Edit: AND fresh shrimp and oyster, forgot that!

Edit: I just noticed I always say 'Yum!' So tonight it's: Yummers! It's a pretty long list (yay!) so here goes!
Fresh: Rasberry, mango, apple, some little tiny shrimps (really cheap, really popular)
Deahydrated/dried: Apple chunks, banana, krill carcapace (did I spell that right?) whole krill, bell peppers of all colors, strawberry, bladderwrack chunks and flakes (edit: and some crickets! They go nuts for freshly dead crickets)
Powders: Kilimanjaros kibble(post molt) bee pollen, calcium powder, hibiscus powder
Yummy!
