Poinsetta leaves

Post by CrabMommaChara » Tue Feb 05, 2019 2:53 pm

Can hermit crabs eat poinsetta leaves, or is it poison? I got a poinsetta plant from a friend and I want to know if I can include it in my hermit crab food cycle.
Thanks!

I would say they would be toxic since poinsetta leaves they are mildly toxic to cats and dogs. I would play it safe and not feed them to hermit crabs. With dogs and cats being much larger than crabs I would think the leaves would have a greater toxic effect to a crab. It isn't listed on our safe or unsafe food lists. I would personally avoid it to be safe.
