Can coconut considerably contribute to growth?

Post by Xenpurgisn@cht » Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:45 am

I've just tried offering coconut meat to my crabs and while the title says it, I'm really interested if it can be the case. There's studys that suggest coconut crabs only grow to half the size if they're on islands without coconuts, and I'm wondering if Hermit Crabs can be a similar case.

Maybe? I wonder if it’s less about coconuts specifically and more about the extra fats that coconuts provide.

I think that might be it, I'd like to believe the high amount of calories and energy they provide helps with having a smoother molting process, and other resources like protein can be dedicated to actual crab growth.
