Thoughts: Carolina Reapers / Ghost Peppers?

Post by Xenpurgisn@cht » Sun Jul 12, 2020 7:40 am

I personally haven't done this nor do I plan to, but this really got me thinking- HCs of course have different tastebuds, but could they receive spice from foods? Has anyone tried offering these peppers to them with ( potentially ) good results? And to those who don't know, the Carolina reaper is one of the most spiciest peppers in the world.

Capsaicin only really affects mammals. Birds are unaffected and according to those who’ve offered chili peppers hermit crabs aren’t either.

One of my crabs favorite items, and one of the most popular items I sold, was hot peppers! Not super hots, but ornamentals that were spicy enough that I maced myself severely while preping them dried. Haven't been able to get near anything hot or any dried peppers since without a major reaction. 🤦‍♀️
