Too bad they're so addicting.
Very true. After all, people would rather have two crabs than one.

Gosh now I'm so questioning why I have 5 HC in a 75 gallon, I thought I was doing a good thing based on so many reads. Now I'm wondering if 2 would have been more ideal for longevity.

I have 9 crabs in my 75 G. 3 Purples and 6 Strawberries. They are all currently wearing 1-1/8" to 1 1-14" opening shells. Aside from one shell fight when I introduced a rescued strawberry a month ago I have not had any issues since I started this tank in July of last year. I think I may have caused the fight because it happened within a few minutes of introducing the new guy after dipping him in saltwater instead of fresh. After I added a few more shells the attacker changed into a new shell.

I kbow the feeling it is always so tempting to help the ones I see in the pet store or to adopt from someone locally when an oppritumity comes. They are so intresting and finding the right balance is tough.
