First time buying lights, is this LED light good for day and night viewing?
First time buying lights, is this LED light good for day and night viewing?
Sorry I'm posting so much, I'm on info overload here lol. So I want viewing light for day and night, just viewing though, not on all day or night. Would this light work (i'm not gonna strobe light it or anything, just white during the day viewing and blue light during the night viewing, but it comes in a bunch of colors). It looks like it has to be suction cupped to inside of cage on back wall though, where my UTHs are, so Im not sure if the suction cups will work? Or if the lights are even the right Kelvins, if that is a thing with LEDs. I'm a newbie if you cant tell lol. Any help would be great! Or any links or ideas to what works for a 55 gallon if this one doesnt work for the hermies.
Thanks again everyone

It should be fine. Like you said, suction cups could come off, but you could always position it on top (whether inside or out of the tank) or on the front glass panel orientated in.
(I have light setups similar, even at night, the blue/reds tend to be rather bright... while the crabs don't really seem to mind, its something you want to limit to night viewing as you said.)

Great, thank you!! Another question though, sorry. Could I keep it on all day and then turn it off when sun goes down and just use it (the blue) for viewing till sun comes up? Thanks again.

I wouldn't. The blue LEDs tend to be rather bright, abd are best for supplemental lighting for viewing.

I rarely use my blue night light mode either, it doesn’t appear that the crabs would appreciate it to me, so I avoid them.

How about if I just keep it on during the daylight hours and then turn it off completely at night?

That’s what I do with my lights. There’s no reason to provide them with night lighting unless you want it for viewing. I tend do just let my crabs be to do their own thing so I’m not worried about cameras or night lights.FSkerlak wrote:How about if I just keep it on during the daylight hours and then turn it off completely at night?
They have a UVB and a household LED bulb for the daytime and they get turned off in the evening.
