Post by Jamison » Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:00 pm

I have a forty gallon tank with 1 small pp and one medium pp. It is 17 inches tall. Do I have enough space for e's?

Imo, you could get a pair of Es without issue.

I agree, but I would not recommend E's unless you are prepared to give them a lot of protein and calcium fortified foods. They also need enough substrate to dig into when they decide to molt. My E's will occasionally dig down during the day, and come back at night, they are much more active and behave differently than PP's.

Here's the E's care sheet.
http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 20&t=92454

The HCA recommends 10" of substrate for E's. Also 10 gallons per crab is also recommended for E's due to their high activity level and possibility of cannibalism.
