Heating question

Post by Wlfwo » Tue Mar 12, 2019 4:03 pm

I am planning to upgrade from a 20g long to the taller one. Same footprint, just taller. I didn't have a lot of time to plan their current crabitat since the kids won them at the fair. I want to put a background with egg crate and coconut mat. My question is how does this affect the heat since this will be over the back glass and that is where the ultratherm is going.

I think Motorcrab talked about that in his build.

The mat does seem to let the heat go through, he might have a more current answer for you since he’s had the tank a little longer now.

Thank you, took me a bit (cause I kept following links) to read it, I may get a better insulation (followed the Flea Bag link too).
You have been a great help.

The egg crate with a coconut mat didn't affect the heat. With the Ultratherm and one side insulated the temperature is holding in the low 80's with a glass top. The lowest I ever saw it was around 78. That could have been from when everything was balancing out from being new.

Fleabag is such a good, helpful kitty! He's on vacation now while I have to work!

Thanks so much. My goal is to have them moved sometime this summer.
