Fake / real stumps?

Post by ROSIEonFIRE » Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:28 pm

Hey guys! For my new tat I want to create a realistic forest floor look that includes a tree stump. So far I'm having trouble finding a realistic looking prop and while I'm looking at real wood I think I might not find something that fits the look I'm going for.

I found this website that makes really nice looking fake stumps but they're over 100$!! Anyone have any ideas?

Heres the link to the fake stump I'm considering

That is really cool! You might be able to find a piece of driftwood to look something like that also, that might be cheaper. I know driftwood can get expensive too but a small piece to look like a stump for a hermit crab habitat shouldn’t be too bad.

Wow! That's pretty cool stuff! But 'ouch' on the prices!

The real problem I'm having is I want one big enough to go almost to the top of my new tat. I have a really nice fake stump now but it's only like, 6" tall or something like that. My new tat will have approx 10" of sub so I'd like something in the 14" range.

Try to source some mangrove root wood, which is stumpish in nature. If needed, you can always lop off the top with a saw.
