Mold!

Post by Julsie » Mon Mar 30, 2020 6:13 pm

My tank sits at 78% humidity and 80 degrees constantly. The fluffy mold clouds grow everywhere in the tank. 2 days ago I replaced the moss pit with fresh moss and misted it a little before placing back in. Huge fluffy mold clouds are all over the new moss... and another thing that irritates me is it always appears on the food in the tank. It’s starting to grow on this hermit crab climbing stand as well. How can I stop it? I know it’s impossible because of the humidity but can I tame it down?

You could try soaking your moss and climbing equipment in saltwater. It doesn’t have to be your marine salt, kosher table salt works, too.

Food is a bit more tricky, but you can try replacing your fresh food with dry for a few days and see what happens.
