Lights Vs Sunlight

Post by Cal » Wed Jun 03, 2020 5:25 pm

Hi everyone! I have a question about lighting for my three hermit crabs. I currently don’t have any extra lights above their tank, since they’re in front of a pretty bright window. However, I was wondering if I could use lights instead of sunlight for the crabs, so I could rearrange my room a bit better— they would still get sunlight, but not as direct. Of course, if they need direct sunlight, I’ll put their well-being before the aesthetics of my room, but I just wanted to ask!

Hello :) You could always purchase a UVB bulb for your crabs to make them happy! :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Direct sunlight can be dangerous, since glass tanks trap and concentrate heat - just like being inside a greenhouse.

Ah, okay, I didn’t know that! Should I try and keep them out of direct sunlight and only use a uvb light bulb like GotButterflies suggested?
