Moldy wood and net

Post by Remsy » Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:08 am

So I just ran into my first mold problem today. I was saying goodbye to my hermits when I noticed white fuzzy hairs dangling from their climbing net and immediately went to the index to find out what it was. Came to the conclusion that it was in fact mold and took them out to start cleaning things. I plan on soaking the net along with the cholla wood and cork in dechlorinated salt water overnight and letting it dry thoroughly before putting it back into the tank. I checked the corners and top of the substrate to see if there was mold trying to hide and didn't see any, also didn't see any on the other climbing net. Did I do everything okay or does anyone recommend I do something else?

i usually wash my nets in vinegar and i make sure the vinegar is completely washed off
bc that will work to try and prevent mold in the first place
