Tank size

Post by Guest » Mon Apr 23, 2007 12:14 pm

Is there a way to determine how big a tank is by dimensions? I thought once I heard for every inch, that was a gallon, or something?

Just wondering. I got a brand new to me tank and not sure the gallons. It is huge.

What ARE it's dimentions? My 20 gal is 24"lx12"wx16"t. I think 10 gallons are about 20"lx10"wx12"t.

It is 24"L x 12"w x 19"h

But my problem with the height, is there is some wooden molding around the bottom and top, how do you "justify" the difference for the molding?

LxWxH/231
So by that equation it is 23.68 gallons. Tanks don't really hold the amount the tank size actually is, for instance a 20 gallon long by that equation only holds around 18 gallons. I guess it is easier for the makers to just round up, so like brandi9976 said it is probably a 25 gallon.
