Along these lines- I have fresh branches in the tank currently but they are starting to smell musty. I was wondering if plastic woods (like tek dek) could be used in a hermit crab tank. They look great and could be carved or cut into what ever length or shape might be needed. Any thoughts? I can't find out what exactly is in plastic woods but I know they are mold resistant.

if the wood is getting stinky, bake it, or pop it in the microwave. musty smell = mold. I use driftwood, and microwave it from time to time. Just keep an eye on in the microwave, and be safe. If you want to throw out the wood, that would work too.
