Possibly dead

Post by Kpeterson09 » Tue Jan 01, 2019 7:11 pm

It's been 3 months and a move since two of my crabs came up. I'm going to slowly search and scrap away the eco earth. Is that smart?? I think I smell something. I'm really scared I have a dead crab.

Crabs can take up to 8 months to molt. I would say it is too early to start digging. In your search it is possible to accidentally dig up a live crab and potentially killing that one. For now be sure you aren't smelling food they drug off someplace in the tank.

Crabs are pretty tough when the fall climbing but until they resurface from molting they are extremely delicate.

I dug up and relocated to an iso tank. If that one passes too I learned my lesson, but I was getting pretty worried. But to my suspicions I did have a dead hermie.
