Big worm in tank!! In Cholla

Post by FSkerlak » Fri Feb 14, 2020 12:25 pm

Help! When I try to get it (take the lid of cage off), it sucks itself back into the cholla hole in a second. I can't get it. If I just remove/replace wood, how do I know if I got them all, if more than 1? Do I need to do a total sand change? Anyone know what kind of worm this is? Is it dangerous to the crabs? ImageImage

It looks like a beetle larvae of some sort. Sort of like a mealworm. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not going to hurt the crabs!

Definitely, thank you so much! 10 inches of substrate in 55 gallons this weekend was not what I was looking forward to lol.

It can be really alarming! I had similar ones after putting elm bark into my tank. Waking up to find little worms everywhere was kind of startling.
