Is this normal?

Post by Arielabdsebastian » Mon Feb 15, 2021 10:44 pm

I have two pp crabs. They both started molting within weeks of each other at the beginning of December. I’m starting to hear one make really loud chirping sounds at night. Sometimes it’s just once and done sometimes it goes on for 10 minutes. This little crab will chirp about every 2 days and it’s been going on the past 2 weeks. Is this normal? They’ve been buried and molting for awhile now. I’m getting nervous about the chirps and I miss them so much. Just need some reassurance that they are okay..

It can be normal, I had a tank full of molters once that had full on conversations every night for weeks before they all came back up within a few days of each other. I figure they had been down there plotting their return. 😉

Whew! Glad to hear my two aren’t the only chatter boxes! I’ve been worried and google is definitely not my friend!

I guess some crabs are introverts and some are extroverts and like to talk lol!

GREAT NEWS! Ariel has came up from molting and even chosen one of the new shells laid out! She’s so big now! So excited! I bought new toys for the tank and hideouts so just waiting on Sebastian to come up before redecorating! 😁
