Getting back into crabs again!

Post by nekros » Mon May 11, 2020 6:46 pm

Hello everyone!

I used to own hermit crabs when I was a teenager and really enjoyed it, although I didn't really know what I was doing. Now, after owning scorpions and tailless whip-spiders, I decided to go back to lil crabs again! I got two new children: Triton & Karikinos. I used the same vivarium as my whip-spiders (without them inside of course) so it's not perfect yet, but I'm building a cute little place for them.

What I think I need:

- more shells of greater variety
-a natural sponge
- more substrate, right now I only have 4 inches of it because whip-spiders didn't need more than that.
- more climbing stuff!

anyway, I'm glad to have joined you all! :P

You don’t actually need sponges.

Welcome and I’m glad to hear that you are back into the wonderful world of crabbing. Just to reinforce the statement above, sponges are unnecessary and really just collect bacteria. I wish you the best experience with your new friends!

Thanks y'all for the advice about sponges! I'll remove it from my "To-do" list :D
