This is a pic of a springtail that I think looks similar to those pics....( I found the website in our mite guide) have you seen any on the eyes or mouth of the crabs? Or are they everywhere? Springtails are harmless...I won't try to pretend to be even close to an insect expert by any means, so if anyone has better insight, or another opinion please chime in!

That could be it, and they're everywhere, never seen them on a crab except just wandering around on the shell

Definitely need someone more knowledgable with bugs here but if they are springtails, they are excellent tank cleaners!!

Then that's what they must be, they jump like, an inch max... they can't fly, but they jump away

EEE!! This is the best!! Now I'm starting to wonder if I should check to see if my crab dug down or not, I can't find one of them and there's a weird mound where a hole was... should I dig and look for him?

You should never do that. It's best to leave them be. It can cause them a lot of harm if you dig them up. Molting is a stressful time for the crabs (and owners) but trust me they'll come back up once they're done (:

As Paradi said, no digging for crabs unless dire emergency! It was cause more stress and potential harm if u dig up a molting crab.

Okay, I won't dig then! I knew it wasn't the best idea but one of my other crabs escaped and I thought she was under, but she was under my nightstand for a week before I looked for her... that's why I'm a bit worried

I checked under the nightstand though and Tuna wasn't there so I think he's actually under

I keep heavy bulky rocks and stuff on the lid of my tank. I don't like surprises and some of my family members would certainly freak out if they found a hermit crab on the loose in the house

Literally same! I usually have thick books in place whenever Janet gets rowdy, but she's the only one who does that (her middle name is Houdini now). Tuna never climbs the cholla to where Janet likes to escape from (made it escape-proof don't worry) so I think he's under...?
