Wave sounds

Post by Jamison » Thu Mar 07, 2019 9:40 pm

Would the crabs enjoy it if I played the sounds of waves in my room at night?

Crabs have neurological responses to certain frequencies and their hairs and statocysts can allow them to sense vibrations. They don’t hear in the way humans that have hearing do, but experiments have shown that they can detect changes from acoustic stimuli, and can “hear” low to mid range frequencies.

They can tell when another crab is chirping, for example, and one study showed that the crabs were less likely to hide from boat noises if distracted.

I play white noise sometimes when I am not going to be in the room, it's quite relaxing to listen to yourself as well.
