Humidity Gauge

Post by avocadocrabbies » Wed Apr 22, 2020 2:48 pm

So I have a humidity gauge in my current 20gal (upsizing to a 50gal soon) home to 4 crabs. I know that my tank is very humid and warm because I actually have a condensation problem, and whenever I open the lid for food/water changing I get this rush of warm, sticky air. However, my humidity gauge always reads that my humidity is something around 45-60 percent- which if it was true, is deathly. it is right above the heating pad on the wall of the tank, and the temperature reading seems accurate enough. Do you think it is broken and I need a new one, or is the area right around the heating pad just very dry (due to evaporation)?

Has your hygrometer been calibrated?
