HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hey guys! So I've planted chia seeds for a while and my crabbies like to munch on them, but Ive always had the problem that the crabs demolish them before the sprouts even get a centimeter tall. So I decided to plant them in a separate container, but just as they sprouted, my crabs went for a molt and no one is eating them. Now they're over two inches high and soon will hit the lid of the tank (they're on the second level) what should I do? I heard chia can grow like two feet tall and I definitely don't want that.

We plant our chia seeds in mayo and peanut butter container lids with some worm castings as soil. We start them on a window sill for a week or two to allow them to grown before adding to the tank. We just dump them out and start over if they go uneaten or get plowed over.

You're welcome! You can always try trimming them down with scissors too. I'm not sure if it would work. It wouldn't hurt to try. There aren't too many options I can think of.
