Oh no, my dad doesn’t want to go to michaels so we just ordered some plastic mesh online that had the words ultra stiff in the product description. I was planning on heating it up a little to bend it, but oh well guess I’ll just have two pieces of unconnected plastic going in and out of my water pool lol

Zip ties! They will connect anything! We use the plastic craft mesh and zip ties! They work great for all 6 of my water pools in the 3 tanks I have.

Zip ties are a staple in crab tanks. Walmart carries the 4" ones, 100 ct for less than $2. In the hardware section.

On the LHS I have a metal wire(probably electrical) that I don’t know what it is. It is extremely heavy and my dead said that he thinks he got it from the Home Depot. On the RHS, I have sausage twine. Since I got mesh but no zipties(coronavirus so not going to store and shipping will probably be too expensive) I want to use one of these. For the left, it’s definitely strong enough to hold mesh but I don’t know if it’s safe. On the right, I do believe twine is safe but I don’t think it’s strong enough to support the weight of my crabs and the mesh. I’ve come to a sort of dead end here, as I don’t have anything else that will work. Please help!

How big are your crabs? If they are not that big then I am pretty sure that twine will hold pretty well! If it is under water I don’t know but it may start to shed little bits of it into the water and it may be harmful!

That looks like tie wire for rebar. I tied rebar for 10 years. If it is tie site is annealed it should bend easily. The stuff we used to use had a thin coating of oil. I believe it was dipped in oil then heated. I remember if it would rain the next day the wire would be rusty. I would avoid that due to the potential of having oil residue. Rust has conflicting debate as to being safe or unsafe. I personally try to avoid it.

If you use the cotton twine there is a good chance it will grow mold. Once again mold is also debated as being safe to crabs. Mold is bad for humans so to me that overrules any safety to crabs. That twine is a lot stronger than it appears.

Out of the two options I would go with the twine.
