Ok I bought a 8” hamster wheel and I disassembled it, but I am having trouble figuring out how to attach the plastic mesh on the inside and outside. Can anyone help me?

Well I personally don’t have a wheel, but you can cut small slits in the side of the material to make it fit better and use hot glue, or some other glues but I don’t know which ones. I am pretty sure that there is a conversation somewhere on HCA that talks about that?

Oh I just saw that you can use silicone or super glue

Drill small holes and use zip ties!

Oh yeah that’s probably a better idea if you have the tools

Are you using flexible mesh because if you aren’t then that’s gonna be very very hard

With our wheels, we drill two small holes side by side into the plastic in a four places. Total of 8 holes. Then we attach craft mesh with zip ties.

We like the zip ties because the wheels can become loaded with sand making the wheels tougher to spin. We cut the zip ties, remove the mesh, clean then reinstall the mesh.

You technically don't need mesh in the wheel. It just gives them an easier and wider area to grip.

Here is a link to a topic with a lot of pictures of crabs in wheels. It should give you lots of ideas for attaching.

I was able to hang mine upside down with the base hanging outside the top of the tank. My lid holds it in place.
