Meet Cocoa

Post by jonathon1989 » Wed Jun 24, 2020 12:26 pm

Just rescued this very special little hermie from the pet store. He is very fast. I’ve never seen a hermit crab move so fast. He is a brownish color. If anybody could help me identify his species I would appreciate it. Image

Thank you! It appears from pictures I have seen online that he is a Capive.

Cute crab. I may be wrong, but I'm getting E or ruggie vibes from him. Could you get another pic of it in the shell?

Thank you. This was the most I could get of him before he burrowed. Image

I think abd pretty sure its an E based on eye shape as well as the colouration that kinda peaking out through the BP.

Capives tebd to have rounded eyes if I'm not mistaken.

@wodesorel would be a good person to reach out to, abd would get her thoughts on the matter as she has a ruggie and kept Es in the past.

I would say E as well. Eye shape and leg plumpness, also that kind of tonna shell is common for Es.

Hahaha. Lesson learned: Never ask Curly to help with crab ID. I have only ever seen PPs in person! LOL!

It sounds right becuase Cocoa is so active and he is in a long shell. And his eyes match the description of the E’s. He just the cutest! I love this kittle guy!

That what I was thinking, but the colouration was kinda throwing me off a little!

Haha, don't worry. I'm not any better, I can spot a PP, aussie, Eand straw with ease, but after that its mostly a case of which shoe fits better.

Yep, definitely an E. When I had three species they were always the fastest and the most outgoing.
