HBH Variety Bites a hit.

Post by Crabber85 » Sat May 11, 2013 1:27 pm

I just bought a bottle of this food yesterday and I put two table spoons of it in the bowl and over night every one of my crabs came out to eat and that dosen't happen much anymore. Since the reformulation of the product I've been hearing and reading good things about it and it was a smash hit with my crabbies.lol

Last I checked, that stuff had questionable ingredients? Did they change it up?

Yep the ethoxyquin was removed and a form of vitamin E used in it's place.JMT(Jedi Master Thrash) was the one to post the new findings and gave us the go ahead to use the product.

Petco has the food there. So, when I looked on the back I saw it has fish meal. I thought anything with meal in it was not good for them.

@Kris, the word meal is an ambiguous word/term which covers a variety of body parts including the less desirable scrap pieces but doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad ingredient. The three big things you want to watch for are Ethoxyquin, BHA and BHT which are all industrial pesticides used as preservatives and can be found in a wide array of commercial hermitcrab foods.

And copper sulfate isn't a good ingredient either, correct? Or has it been proved ok?
