Great news, Renegade returned last night from his molt! I was so happy to come home from work and see him in there. He looks bigger and his color looks great, so much darker. So yay!!

congrats, big time! That is something i still have to achieve, as you now know, i am now 0-1 with molting, but i am pretty sure it would have been successful if it weren't for him being eaten. But good job, a color that stays dark means that a hermit crab was fed a lot of carotene enriched foods and calcium before and after. Did you let him eat his old skin that he molted? It helps with calcium supplement right after a molt.
experience comes from this: Harvey (tarantula), flanders (cat), 2 pp hermit crabs, (marshawn pinch, and richard shermit), smallstress house hamster(hamster), baron purplemoon (fish).

Yes I did let him eat it. I also keep a dish of calcium supplement powder for them in the crabitat.
