What is better? EE Or play sand? I know Most of you guys use play sand but does the little caves they build actually stay a cave over time or not? and what about cleaning with molters molting? Still not sure how that works...

Substrate for molting crabs?

Substrate is really is a personal preference I use play sand because its cheap and it works.Molt pockets are meant to last forever just until the crab is done with it and then the next time it needs to molt it will go down and carve out a whole new one somewhere else.Cleaning while a crab is down molting is something that has been discussed in the past but the general consensus is that light surface cleaning should only be done while a crab is down and full deep cleans should only occur when everyone is up on the surface.
