Baby hermit crabs or.. what??

This area is dedicated to the pioneers who have captive bred crabs, and for those who wish to learn more or attempt it themselves. Also for inquiring about the gender of your crabs.

So sorry I've just seen this. My home town has just experienced the worst flood in 45 years. I'm with the emergency service here that deals with floods. We had 870 ish calls for help and 230 were flood rescues. Been a bit busy for the past 10 days or so

They certainly look like zoea to me. If you have a bubbler in your salt pool it is surprising how long they will live for in there. But certainly best to get them into raising set up sooner than later. It isn't hard. Just stressful and time consuming. Good luck with your next lot.

This is consistent with their spawning schedule, too, as they usually spawn within a few days of the new moon, and March 28th was the new moon.

You said there's a noticable size difference between the crabs that may have mated? It's it possible to get a side-by-side comparison pic? It's difficult to compare from the individual photos, and I'm very curious as to the range of sizes that they'll readily mate with each other.
I had previously assumed they should be of similar size, but I've often wondered if it matters much as long as both are of sexual maturity. So any extra info you could provide might be useful.
