Thank you.
Well, I have a 29G which I will be moving my crabs to once everyone is up. When, if my E is still alive, I can give him the proper substrate he needs. If he isn't, unfortunately, if I get another E, I can also give the crab proper substrate.

unfortunately, it looks like he must have been cannibalized at some point
all i found were pieces of exoskeleton
let's hope he just had an unsuccessful molt and was only eaten after passing.
we'll never know...

I was very inpatient a while back, and wanted to dig so badly, because I used to do it all the time when I was inexperienced. I deeply encourage you to stay calm and patient, just let nature work things out. Hermit crabs can take months on end for molting, so it’s normall not a concern if a crab exceeds what seems to be a normal molting time frame.

I would never worry about a small-medium crab until it surpassed three months.

It has surpassed 3 months. The wait has been 3 months and 8 days, and counting

Personally, I would still wait. What's the harm in waiting another few weeks? None. What's the harm in digging? Potentially life-threatening.
